Once you know you are pregnant, you start getting anxious about everything. Which doctor to go to or what to expect in the coming weeks, which diet to follow, are some of the common issues that dwell in our minds. But what are precautions during pregnancy? Are you worrying too much over that extra glass of wine that you had yesterday? The prime focus of this page is to get you aware on the precautions during pregnancy that every expectant mother should take.
Do not start believing every advice or suggestion you come across. The pregnancy time is no doubt one of the most thrilling phases of our life but full of worries too. But if we know the main precautions during pregnancy and took care of them, then we can sit back and relax and enjoy the pregnancy period.

Common precautions during pregnancy

1. Avoid alcoholAlthough the small glass of wine after dinner may seem harmless, but

consuming alcohol during pregnancy can lead to Fetal alcohol syndrome, leading to physical and mental defects in the baby. As there is no safe amount of alcohol as yet known, it is better to not take any risk because of the uncertainly and NOT take any alcoholic drink during pregnancy.



2. What about CaffeineIt is advisable to cut down on your intake of caffeine as one of the precautions during pregnancy. Taking more than 2 cups of coffee a day means putting you and the baby at risk. High caffeine consumption can lead to miscarriage.








3. Certain foods to avoidThere are certain foods that you can avoid and those which are
likely to be contaminated with bacteria or contain metals. Stay clear of unpasteurized cheeses, unpasteurized milk, raw eggs, under-cooked fish etc. You should also avoid eating swordfish, shark, king mackerel, tuna steak and king mackerel. These precautions during pregnancy should be taken so as to avoid any food borne idleness.



4. Keep away from animals
Stay away from animals as you can get infections from cleaning soiled litter boxes, for example of cat’s. this can lead to some serious problems in a fetus, like poor growth or brain damage. The pregnant woman may shoe no symptoms of these infections but can pass them on to the growing baby inside her.






5. Can I smoke?Avoid smoking at all cost. Smoking during pregnancy is like putting the cig to your baby’s lips and expecting him to puff. You will pass harmful carbon monoxide and nicotine to your baby if you smoke. Also steer clear of people who smoke.
Just take care of the main precautions during pregnancy and you will be fine.
